Bloom and Create: Where Creativity Gets to Be Simple Again
Bloom and Create has been on my heart for a while now, and it really started with my niece.
Since we opened the doors at Sweet Pea, she’s said she wants to work here when she grows up. And while that may or may not come true, it made me think about something bigger—how important it is for girls to have the opportunity to play with flowers in a low-stakes way.
No pressure.
No expectations.
Just the freedom to create.
Somewhere along the way, we stop giving ourselves permission to do that. We start thinking things have to be “good” or “right” or worth something in order to matter. But creativity was never meant to feel heavy.
It was meant to feel like play.
That’s what Bloom and Create is meant to be—a space for 9–12 year old girls to explore, experiment, and build something beautiful with their own hands. A place where they can follow their instincts, trust their ideas, and feel proud of what they make—not because it’s perfect, but because it’s theirs.
Flowers are such a special medium for that. They’re forgiving. They’re expressive. There’s no single “right” way to arrange them. And in that, there’s so much room for confidence to grow.
My hope is that every girl who walks into Bloom and Create leaves feeling a little more sure of herself. A little more willing to try. A little more comfortable creating just because she wants to.
Because sometimes the most important thing we can give them isn’t instruction—it’s space.
And there’s something really special about that.
